Full Moon Bar-B-Que
Full Moon Bar-B-Que has been in operation since 1986. The Maluff brothers, David and Joe, have grown the business while continuing a family-owned tradition that caters to folks who know great 'que from the rest. The wood smoke from every Full Moon restaurant's fire pit shows the Birmingham-born brothers' commitment to top-notch bar-b-que. At the same time, they satisfy a variety of tastes with fresh salads, hand-breaded chicken tenders, farm-raised catfish, Buffalo-style wings and overstuffed baked potatoes. From the famous Full Moon chow-chow to the baked-fresh-daily Half Moon cookies, Full Moon Bar-B-Que makes sure to use the freshest ingredients in their homemade selections. Most importantly, it's all served with a healthy helping of true Southern hospitality. You can dine in, get it to go or take advantage of Full Moon's catering and portable BBQ pits. However, you choose, Full Moon will have you beaming! Full Moon BBQ is the “Best Little Pork House!”

Strategy: The KC Projects team conceptualized the ‘Backpack Blessings’ initiative for Full Moon BBQ in 2020 to provide warm meals, school supplies, gift cards, and hope to the children of Alabama and Mississippi through anonymous nominations. The purpose of this project was to extend a helping hand to those preparing for their child’s upcoming school year, a time that can be stressful and expensive for families. Each year the KC Projects team spearheads a comprehensive statewide awareness campaign in Alabama and Mississippi. Using the power of media, television, and social media platforms, our goal is to shine a spotlight on this noble cause, ensuring that the initiative's reach extends far and wide
Results: Over the course of only five years, the Backpack Blessings Initiative has blossomed into an annual campaign, providing support to a total of 525 families. Remarkably, the program has garnered over 8,300 nominations from the community, a number that continues to grow each year. Additionally, the initiative has earned prestigious recognitions and accolades. It played a pivotal role in David & Joe Maluff receiving the 2023 ARHA Stars of the Industry Humanitarian Award. Additionally, it was named as a finalist in the 2023 PR Daily Content Marketing Awards for a Purpose-Driven Campaign and also earned recognition as a finalist in the 2024 Business Alabama Awards, solidifying its status as a noteworthy force for positive change.
